Medicare / Medigap

Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans

Medigap works alongside Original Medicare to help pay some of the deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance that Parts A and B leave behind. You can generally see any provider in the U.S. that accepts Medicare, with no network restrictions. Medigap does not include prescription drug coverage, so most people pair it with a separate Part D plan.

Popular plan letters

  • Plan G — one of the most comprehensive options for people newly eligible for Medicare; you pay the Part B deductible.
  • Plan N — lower premium than G, with small copays for some office and ER visits.
  • High-Deductible Plan G — lower premium, but higher out-of-pocket costs until the deductible is met.

When to enroll

Your best window is the 6-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period that starts when you're 65 or older and enrolled in Part B; during that window, you generally have guaranteed issue rights and no medical underwriting.

Pair with Part D

Medigap doesn't cover drugs, so most clients pair it with a standalone Part D plan — or choose Medicare Advantage instead if they want bundled coverage.
