Medicare / Part C
Medicare Advantage plans, explained clearly
Medicare Advantage (Part C) bundles your Part A and Part B coverage through a private insurer approved by Medicare. Most plans also include Part D prescription drug coverage and may add benefits like dental, vision, hearing, and fitness.
How it works
Medicare Advantage plans are private plans approved by Medicare that provide your Part A and Part B benefits, and usually Part D too. Plans may use provider networks, and they set their own copays, deductibles, and annual out-of-pocket maximums.
What to compare
Network doctors and hospitals, drug formulary and tiers, monthly premium, out-of-pocket maximum, extra benefits, star rating, and year-to-year plan stability.
Who it fits
Medicare Advantage can work well if your doctors are in-network and you want predictable copays and bundled extras. If you travel often or want the most provider freedom, Original Medicare with a Medigap policy and separate Part D may fit better.
