Annual Enrollment Period: October 15 – December 7
Every fall, Medicare gives you a chance to review your coverage and change plans for the year ahead. Premiums, formularies, provider networks, and extra benefits can all change, so the plan that worked last year may no longer be the best fit.
What you can do during AEP
- Switch between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage.
- Change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another.
- Join, switch, or drop a Part D drug plan.
Changes made during AEP take effect January 1.
Missed the window?
Special Enrollment Periods may apply if you move, lose creditable employer coverage, or gain or lose Extra Help. If you're already in a Medicare Advantage plan, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs January 1 through March 31 and lets you make another plan change or return to Original Medicare.
