Marketplace Health Insurance That Fits Your Life
Health insurance should do more than check a box. It should give you access to care, protect you from high medical costs, and help you feel confident that you have coverage when it matters most. Marketplace plans are designed to give individuals and families a practical way to get quality health insurance with options that fit different needs and budgets.
Considering a lower-cost alternative? Compare HealthShare plans vs. Marketplace insurance in Texas before you decide.
Why Marketplace coverage matters
Marketplace plans must cover 10 essential health benefits, including doctor services, emergency care, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance use disorder services, prescription drugs, preventive care, and more. These plans also cover pre-existing conditions and cannot deny you coverage or charge you more because of your health history.
That means you can look for coverage with more peace of mind and fewer surprises. Instead of worrying about whether your health history will get in the way, you can focus on choosing a plan that works for your doctor visits, prescriptions, and budget.
Help with affordability
For many people, the biggest advantage of the Marketplace is the possibility of savings. Depending on your income and household size, you may qualify for premium tax credits that lower your monthly premium, and cost-sharing reductions may also be available for some enrollees.
You can preview plans and estimated prices before applying, which makes it easier to compare options and see what may work best for you. Final prices are available after you complete the Marketplace application.
When you can enroll
You can enroll during Open Enrollment, and some life changes may qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period. That may include events such as moving, losing other coverage, or changes in your household.
If you are not sure whether now is the right time to enroll, reviewing your options early can help you avoid missing an opportunity for coverage.
Choose coverage with confidence
The right health plan should support both your health and your financial goals. Marketplace plans give you the chance to compare coverage, check potential savings, and choose a plan that makes sense for your situation.
Whether you are enrolling for the first time or reviewing your current coverage, having the right guidance can make the process much simpler.

Marketplace coverage in Houston — common questions
How do I find a Marketplace health insurance plan in Houston?
Plans and prices on the Health Insurance Marketplace are set by county, so a Houston household sees different options than one in Austin or Dallas. We compare the plans available at your ZIP code across Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Brazoria, Galveston, and Waller counties, check whether your doctors are in network, and estimate your premium after any tax credit.
Does it cost more to enroll through a Houston broker?
No. Marketplace premiums are the same whether you enroll on your own at HealthCare.gov or with a licensed broker. Our help is free to you.
Am I eligible for a premium tax credit in Texas?
Eligibility depends on your household income, household size, and whether affordable coverage is offered through a job. Texas does not run its own exchange, so Texans enroll through HealthCare.gov. We estimate your savings before you apply; final amounts are confirmed by the Marketplace application.
When can Houston residents enroll in a Marketplace plan?
Open Enrollment for the coming plan year runs each fall. Outside that window you can enroll with a Special Enrollment Period after a qualifying life event — moving to the Houston area, losing job-based coverage, marriage, or a new baby. Confirm current dates at HealthCare.gov.
Will my Houston doctors and hospitals be in network?
Marketplace networks in the Houston metro are narrower than most people expect, and they change each January. Before you enroll we check your specific doctors, specialists, hospitals, and prescriptions against each plan's network and drug list.
Can we meet in person about Marketplace coverage?
Yes, by appointment in a Katy, Texas office space. We do not have a walk-in office; 1415 S. Voss Rd is a mailing address only. Most reviews are done by phone or video.
More local answers are on the Houston insurance FAQ. Plan years and enrollment dates come from HealthCare.gov.
